Supplier data
CBAM supplier data request template
Create a neutral supplier data request draft you can copy into your own email. CBAM Pulse does not send the request, store the draft, collect supplier files, or decide whether the data is sufficient.

Build a supplier request draft
Add the context you already know — the draft updates as you type. Every field except the import year is optional, and everything stays in your browser.
Appears in the subject line — e.g. a PO number or '2026 steel imports'.
The definitive period starts with 2026 imports.
The 8-digit code from your customs data. Not sure it is in scope? Check it with the goods checker first.
Added as a context line in the draft, marked as your note.
No account is required. The public template does not save, send, collect files, or keep a record.
Copy/paste draft
Review the text, adapt it to your relationship with the supplier, and send it yourself if appropriate.
The draft is assembled from a fixed template and your inputs — nothing is invented.
Copying happens in your browser. CBAM Pulse does not send the request, and no draft or copy is kept anywhere.
After the draft is ready
- Paste the subject into your email's subject field and the body into the message.
- Review and adapt the wording to your supplier relationship — it is a starting point, not a fixed format.
- Send it through your own process, to your usual supplier contact, if appropriate.
- When a reply arrives, note what was provided and what is still open, and review it with your adviser before relying on it.
Ask for the data source
The draft asks the supplier to identify the production installation, route or process, emissions figures, period covered, and the basis for the data.
Ask for supporting references
It requests methodology notes, supporting documentation references, any independent check where available, and a contact for follow-up questions.
Keep the boundary clear
The template states it is informational only and not a legal document, declaration, Registry submission, or advice.
Template boundary
This is a template based on the European Commission's Communication Template. It is not a legal document or a legally required format. Review and adapt it before sending; you are responsible for communications with your suppliers.
Questions about supplier precursor data
What precursor information does the template request?
It asks for the precursor description, quantity used in each production process, source installation and process, reporting period, and the basis behind the emissions information.
Should the supplier report only precursor mass left in the finished goods?
No. The request asks whether the quantity is the total mass required, including material that may be spilt, cut off, combusted, chemically modified, or leave as by-products, scrap, residues, waste, or emissions under the adopted calculation rules.
What if one precursor comes from several installations or processes?
Ask the supplier to keep each source production process and installation identifiable. The adopted rules require source-specific monitoring data and also contain weighted-average rules for defined cases, so the final calculation treatment should not be inferred from the request alone.
Does the request distinguish actual data from default values?
Yes. It asks for the emissions-data basis for each precursor and separately asks whether the goods-level emissions figures use actual values or official default values, with supporting references for later review.
Does CBAM Pulse send or store this supplier request?
No. The draft is created in your browser for copy and paste. Review and adapt it, then send it through your own process; CBAM Pulse does not send the message or store the draft.
Before and after this step
- CN goods checker — Before this step: confirm the CN code is in CBAM scope.
- Cost calculator — After the data arrives: use the emissions-intensity figure in a planning estimate.
- Reporting evidence checklist — Structure what you received and make the gaps visible.
- Türkiye cement and clinker default-values guide — match the official source row before requesting missing supplier data.
